Robert Rodriguez and Nimrod Antal will present the world premier of footage from Predators on March 10th at SXSW.

The presentation will be the Alamo Ritz Theater in Austinin at 10:15pm, and is open to SXSW Badge-holders on a first-come, first-served basis. The screening will be followed by a Q&A.

With any luck, the footage will then be released online through official channels, tho no doubt it will reach us first via a shakely, hand-held phonecam-o-vision.

Music Film Reporter has the news that composer John Debney is providing the score for the upcoming Predators.

Debney has previously provided to music for a wide range of films, including Sin City, Iron Man, The Passion of the Christ, as well as this summer’s Iron Man 2.

Deadline are reporting that 20th entury Fox have won the US rights to distribute Machete for $9 after a 6-way bidding war with other studios.

 

Perhaps more interestingly, Rodriguez’s traditional backers, the Bob and Harvey Weinstein, turned down the chance to handle the film. With Rodriguez’s own Troublemaker Studios rebooting the Predator franchise for Fox, could he have found a new creative home?

Fox reminded everyone that it was already very much in the Robert Rodriguez business making Predators, and Tom Rothman really wanted him to have a home there, and Rodriguez and Rothman get along well, so a deal was clinched

… they’re editing right now so I’m writing some score. But it’s going really terrific it looks really great

And as for Sin City 2:

Yeah we still talk about doing that as early/later next year, but I haven’t gotten into that yet…

I know I wanna do it and its always sort of time permitting kind of thing but it’s not like I can tell you definitely we’re starting…it’s not my next picture I know that…

‘Machete’ kicks ass. [Laughs] It is a culmination of ‘Desperado’, ‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico’…there’s even a little bit of ‘From Dusk ‘Til Dawn’ in there. I think it’s gonna be one of his best. And I’m not just saying that cause I’m the lead, it’s just a great movie. I think everybody’s gonna walk away from that movie with some opinion.

Jo Blo are reporting that Matrix star Laurence Fishburne has joined the cast of the currently shooting Predators, apparently as a character called ‘Noland’, who has a past history with the creatures. Click here for the full story!

Director Nimrod Antal is taking advantage of the upcoming release of his new film Armored to talk to Coming Soon about Predators, currently in production for release next year.

 

 

 

 

 

So far, it’s been great, and I think that the fans who may have been underwhelmed by the last two AVP films, I think they’re in for a very pleasant surprise.

I think we both recognize that the original film was as good as it was because of the practical, because it was a guy in a suit, because it was the jungle, so we stay true to that. We were in Hawaii for a month in the jungle, so there’s going to be some pretty impressive locations.
